When it comes to value and performance, it is hard to beat Sporlan brand solenoid valves.  These solid brass valves are hermetically sealed against leakage and can be mounted in any position.  We stock two basic valve body sizes (Sporlan 3 and 6) with a choice of solder or flare connections. 

#3 valves are recommended for systems less than 1/2 HP and #6 valves for larger systems.   The coils must be purchased separately and are compatible with either body.

Check Valves
 
Check valves are used in both the liquid and suction lines to prevent the backflow of refrigerant.  RParts Magni-Chek check valves are especially chosen for their extremely low back pressure (i.e. cracking pressure).  This prevents the forward-flow pressure drop which can be a problem with lower quality valves.  In addition, the valves also include leak proof magnetic checking action.  What does this signify?  It means that there is no spring or ball bearing to wear out for a longer lasting check valve. 

The Magni-Chek check valves are copper bodied and can easily be soldered.  They can be mounted in any position but be sure to note the flow direction before mounting.

Hand Valves - Packless
 
The placement of hand valves at critical points throughout a system will permit the easy field  replacement major system components.  One example is the use of hand valves on either side of the filter-dryer.  Hand valves are also used to isolate different parts of a system when using multiple compressors, evaporators, etc. when only one is to be operational at a time. 

RParts hand valves are a "packless" design.  This means they require no stem packing and will not leak even after years of constant service.

Base Valves
 
RParts has these unusual valves manufactured just for us.  We call them "Base Valves".  They are designed to stand upright and are bolted in place using a threaded bolt hole in the bottom.  They operate in the same way as a conventional service valve, providing three-way refrigerant access and shut-off.  We use them as part of our DIY kits to provide an easy way to isolate the compressor unit from the tube set and evaporator.

Schrader Valves
 
One irrefutable fact about refrigeration systems is that sooner or later, they all need at least one access port.  Testing, evacuating, charging - they all require access to the refrigerant circuit.  That is where the lowly Schrader valve comes in.  If you are changing out the compressor (or any other component) in a small refrigerator, you are going to want to solder a couple of these fellows in place (one on the high pressure side, one on the low).

Note:  Use the valve cap (supplied) to remove and replace the valve core during soldering.
