thermostat location

"please excuse the cross post but I'm unsure which forum is most appropriate for this question since there are many non-DIY Kit questions here getting good answers.Hi everyone,I recently purchased this controller (015-0282) to use as the controller for a 12v fan that would blow cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator. To keep holes to a minimum, I put the controller inside the refrigerator and placed the end of the probe in front of the return air to the freezer. Even at the "warmest" setting on the thermostat, the fan will not turn off. I have tried placing the probe directly in front of the cold supply air as well. A separate thermometer has the temp at 31 degrees inside the refrigerator box.Does the thermostat control need to be outside the space to work properly? i.e.- must there be a significant temperature differential between the end of the probe and the controller?Thanks for your time!Brad"

"Brad,Check the wiring to assure that the fan circuit is connected between terminals 3 and 4 on the thermostat. The two terminals are at right angles to each other. There are two tabs labeled "4", and only one wire should attach to one of them. The other wire attaches to terminal 3.If it still doesn't work, 015-0284 might be a better choice. But the t'stat you have should work. Check the wiring, and maybe put it in the freezer so it gets cold enough to shut off.No, the t'stat body can be in the cold space, the probe and controller can be in the same area with no problem.Hope this helps,Forum Tech"
