electric compressor 1956 need help

"It was removed from elevator shaft in the 1980s and has been sitting unused in someones garage ever since. I'm told it was functioning when removed.I dont want to just plug in it. i'd like some help first. I have pictures and specific questions. Is anyone interested in helping or sending me to a better forum?There is an oil fill, but no level indicator."
